Accessibility

Housing Partnership Development Corporation ("HPDC") wants everyone who visits housingpartnership.com to be able to find housing information, apply for vacancies, reach a counselor, and contact our staff, whatever technology they use. We treat accessibility as part of our mission, not an add-on to it.

Our standard

We design and test this site against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. We also follow the W3C's WCAG 3.0 working draft as it develops so that the site keeps pace with the guidelines as they mature.

What we have done

  • Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator and a skip link to the main content.
  • Pages use meaningful headings, landmarks, and labels so that screen readers can navigate them, and images carry text alternatives.
  • Text and interface colors meet the WCAG contrast minimums, and links inside text are underlined rather than marked by color alone.
  • Moving content can be paused, and animation is reduced for visitors who have asked their device to reduce motion.
  • Forms have visible labels, clear error messages, and browser autofill support.
  • Automated accessibility checks run on every change to the site before it is published, and we review the site by hand for the issues automation cannot catch.
  • The site is available in twelve languages. Translated pages are produced with machine translation and reviewed as described in our AI Translation Disclaimer.

Known limitations

We are working through the following, and we will update this page as each one is resolved.

  • Some older PDF documents, including annual reports published before 2024 and archived news clippings, were not created with accessible tags. We will provide the information in an accessible format on request.
  • Videos hosted on third-party platforms may rely on automatically generated captions.
  • Online donations and event ticketing are processed by third-party services whose accessibility we do not control. If you have difficulty completing a transaction, contact us and we will complete it with you by phone.
